Gold Drilling Program Kicks Off with DOWA Support $GOLD

Galway Metals Unveils New Drilling Initiative

Galway Metals Inc. (GWM:TSX.V; GAYMF:OTCQB) has officially commenced a significant 5,000-meter drill program at its Estrades Project located in Quebec. This initiative is part of Phase I of a work program established under a joint venture agreement with DOWA METALS & MINING, which includes potential funding of up to US$25 million.

The start of drilling follows the mobilization of two diamond drill rigs to the site, signaling a proactive step towards further evaluating the high-grade, gold and zinc-rich volcanic massive sulphide deposit. Historically, the Estrades Project has seen substantial investment, with Breakwater Resources Ltd. having invested approximately CAD$20 million into its development during the early ’90s.

Exploration Goals and Historical Context

Galway’s current drilling efforts are focused on enhancing geological understanding across the Main, Central, and East zones of the Estrades Project. The company aims to gather fresh mineralized material, which will be critical for upcoming metallurgical testing.

According to Robert Hinchcliffe, President and CEO of Galway Metals, the drilling program is designed to provide representative samples that will support the next phase of metallurgical work while collecting vital geological information. This strategic approach aims to bolster the company’s ongoing evaluation of the development pathways highlighted in the recent Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) released earlier this year.

Located approximately 95 kilometers north-northeast of La Sarre, Quebec, the Estrades Project consists of a series of mineral-rich massive sulphide lenses that contain gold, zinc, copper, lead, and silver. The deposit has historical mining roots, having been actively mined between 1990 and 1991, utilizing a decline to the 190-meter level and a network of ramp-connected levels.

Metallurgical Testing and Future Studies

The current drilling initiative is not only about expanding the geological footprint but also aims to facilitate metallurgical testwork. The samples collected are set to be analyzed by SGS Canada at its Burnaby facility, with results expected to play a crucial role in advancing the partnership’s further evaluations.

Since acquiring the Estrades Project in 2016, Galway has completed over 52,281 meters of drilling, illustrating its commitment to comprehensive exploration and resource definition. The company is optimistic that the additional drilling will enhance local geological confidence, thereby supporting future resource and engineering studies.

Market Context: Gold and Zinc Prices Remain Strong

As of July 24, 2026, gold prices are trading at US$4,069.32 per ounce, reflecting a gain of 0.31% on the day. This surge can be attributed to a broader bullish sentiment in the market, particularly as central banks increase their reserves and private sector interest in gold rises.

Recent commentary from investor John Paulson suggests that the gold market is in the early stages of a long-term bull market, which could provide a favorable backdrop for companies like Galway Metals. Furthermore, ongoing uncertainty regarding global monetary policies, especially after the European Central Bank’s decision to maintain interest rates, is likely to sustain heightened interest in precious metals.

Future Directions for Galway Metals

Looking ahead, Galway Metals has several initiatives in progress alongside the Estrades drilling program. These include an environmental baseline study set to begin in the second quarter of 2026 and ongoing community outreach efforts. The company is also focused on upgrading the mineral resource through continued drilling and metallurgical studies aimed at increasing metal recoveries.

Additionally, Galway is preparing for a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for its 100%-owned Clarence Stream gold project in New Brunswick, which has potential indicated resources of 27.2 million tonnes grading 1.62 grams per tonne gold. This assessment is expected to culminate in the first quarter of 2027, marking yet another significant milestone for the company.

Investors will be keenly watching the outcomes of the current drilling program and metallurgical testing results, as these developments will significantly impact Galway’s valuation and project outlook. The upcoming drilling results and PEA for Clarence Stream will be critical indicators of the company’s growth trajectory in the precious metals sector.
