VR Resources Doubles Jeep Mine Drill Sites After 881-Meter Hit
VR Resources Ltd. (TSXV: VRR; OTCQB: VRRCF) said on October 20, 2026 that it received a Notice of Intent permit amendment that doubles permitted drill sites at the Jeep Mine from eight to sixteen, clearing the way for follow-up drilling at its New Boston moly-copper-tungsten-silver porphyry project in west-central Nevada.
The permit expansion follows a CEO site visit on October 18, 2026, when Dr. Michael H. Gunning reviewed proposed drill locations and logistics for a fall program of four to six holes. The work is designed to test continuity along strike and at depth within a system that has been mapped over a 2-kilometer strike length.
Inside NB26-003: 317 Meters at 0.77% CuEq From Surface
The follow-up campaign is anchored on drill hole NB26-003, completed in June 2026, which returned 881 meters (2,892 feet) of continuous polymetallic stockwork veining. Within that interval, the company reported 317 meters at 0.77% copper equivalent from surface, above 419 meters at 0.48% CuEq.
VR has said the hole validated its geophysical target, applying modern geochemistry, geophysics and porphyry deposit modeling to a system with artisanal workings dating to the early 20th century and expert surface work in the 1960s and 1970s before the property was largely abandoned in 1981. Drill site J10, about 500 meters east of NB26-003, shows polyphase stockwork quartz veins in recrystallized Triassic limestone with garnet-rich skarn alteration and is among the sites under consideration.
CA$7.5 Million Placement Funds Four to Six Fall Holes
Planning is funded by a CA$7.5 million strategic private placement that closed in September 2026, involving 18,750,000 units at CA$0.40 each. Proceeds are earmarked for follow-up drilling at New Boston, marketing, and general corporate and administrative expenses.
The raise also addressed a funding overhang flagged by technical analyst Robert Sinn in a September 16, 2026 opinion piece, in which he called VR a textbook bullish breakaway pattern but said the financing question mark had stalled the rally above CA$0.50. Stewart Thomson, in an August 27, 2026 analysis, rated the stock Speculative Buy with targets of CA$0.60 short term, CA$1.70 medium term and CA$2.30 long term. VR has a market capitalization of about CA$25 million, 61,039,179 shares outstanding and a 52-week range of CA$0.09 to CA$0.63.
Copper Demand Gap Meets a 1-Million-Ton U.S. Mine Base
The macro backdrop is supportive. An S&P Global 2026 study projected global copper demand rising from roughly 28 million metric tons in 2025 to 42 million metric tons by 2040, about a 50% increase, driven by grid investment, electric vehicles and defense, with AI data centers an emerging driver. A January 2026 S&P Global report warned of a potential 10-million-ton supply shortfall by 2040 absent major new supply, with mined output peaking around 2030.
U.S. mine production was estimated at about 1 million metric tons in 2025, down from 1.05 million in 2024, according to the USGS 2026 Mineral Commodity Summaries, which also noted copper’s addition to the U.S. critical minerals list in 2025. Tariff uncertainty has distorted trade flows: Reuters reported 885,000 metric tons of U.S. copper imports in the first half of 2026 and record COMEX inventories of 675,185 tons, while a possible 15% tariff on refined copper imports from January 2027, rising to 30% in 2028, remained undecided as of October 14, 2026.
For VR, the thesis now rests on execution. Management expects staggered news flow from the fall program into early 2027, and the first assay results from the four-to-six-hole campaign are the number that matters. A repeat of NB26-003’s grade and thickness along strike would validate the large-footprint model; weak or narrow results would undercut the CA$0.60 near-term target and refocus attention on the company’s cash position after the placement.
